I have recently procured a new MacBook. I have been using my kGTD system for over a year with great success on my G4 Powerbook. I installed kgtd0830 on the new MacBook after installing OmniOutliner (3.6.2 (v143.19)). I moved my license over to the new computer. Then I moved my file over to the new Mac and ran a Sync and when it finished all of my actions were lost. The projects stayed intact but they lost their context. The action list is empty in both OmniOutliner and iCal. I want to get this fixed before I delete the copy of OmniOutliner on the G4.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Scott

Turn off iCal Syncing

The most likely cause is that you have iCal syncing turned on. That causes kGTD Sync to check iCal for changes to your tasks. On your new computer, it thinks you’ve erased all your tasks, because they’re not in iCal. So it mindlessely erases all your tasks in kGTD, to get it syncronized.

On your G4, turn off iCal syncing (in the Settings section) and then move the file to your MacBook. Run the Sync script without making any other changes. Then turn iCal syncing on and run the Sync script again. Your kGTD file and iCal calendars should show your tasks now.

Good luck.

Re: Turn off iCal Syncing

It didn’t work. So, I copied the support files for my iCal prefs over first then ran the sync and that worked fine. Thanks for the time and the help. I really appreciate it. Love the app.
