Problem with recurring tasks

I have a number of weekly projects with actions that recur every week. When I mark them complete, they do not regenerate for the next week. I believe I am setting them up right.

Line one: meta-project title.
Indent. Line two: Project title.
Indent. Line three: action.
Indent. Line four: “recur in 1 week” followed by start date (e.g. tuesday) and due date (e.g. saturday).

When I check the action or actions complete, a line slashes through the action and project name. The action does not regenerate, not immediately, not in 24 hours, not by the date the new renewed action ought to start. Nor does the project name regenerate. it is gone too.

Any suggestions what I am doing that is wrong?
