About Me
Hi, I’m Ethan. I’m based in Hong Kong where I have a photo studio and enjoy life with my wife and wee baby girl. I work throughout Asia as an assignment photographer and spend a good deal of time thinking about productivity and creativity (more below, broken up to seem like I’m talking about myself less than I really am).

About the screencasts
I produce (in only the roughest sense of the word) screencasts for the site from time to time and I receive a lot of questions about them. Here’s the lowdown:
To capture the video, I use SnapzPro X from Ambrosia Software, a great application with both a “z” and an “x” in its name, which I think is clearly enough to recommend it.
For managing the audio portion of the videos, I use Audio Hijack Pro from Rogue Amoeba which is pretty much the go-to app for grabbing, routing, and generally rough handling audio streams on the mac.
For the spotlight effects I use OmniDazzle from OmniGroup. Is there no software category their genius cannot illuminate? I think not.
For the modifier key overlays, I use Mouseposé from Boinx Software (who also make FotoMagico, a great slideshow app for photographers. Mouseposé also does a nice spotlight effect but I like the trigger options with OmniDazzle so I use both.
I also gargle three liters of warm honey before each recording.
